CSR at the heart of Europorte's strategy

Europorte is committed to Corporate Social Responsibility and has integrated CSR at the heart of its strategy. Europorte acts on a daily basis to implement a unique culture and an innovative global offer based on fundamental values and in particular safety, respect for the environement, quality of service and training. Europorte maintains a continuous dialogue with all its stakeholders and is part of the Getlink group’s strategy.

Safety

Europorte is the first private rail company since 2004 to be granted an operator licence by the French State authorising it to develop rail services throughout the European Union.

In 2021, Europorte France was the first rail freight company in France to obtain ERA’s Single Safety Certificate with validity in several countries.

Maintaining a high-level of safety and security is one of Europorte’s top priorities, exercising rigour on a daily basis in its management and implementation of railway operating regulations:

  • Transport of dangerous goods according to international regulations (RID and RDD)
  • Expertise on SEVESO sites
  • Mase, SQAS, EcoVadis certifications
  • TK’Blue certification
  • SPA prevention policy.

Since 2012, Europorte has further reinforced the monitoring of skills and employee security clearances, including the introduction of an IT tool to manage certifications for all staff exercising safety functions. All safety incidents are recorded and analysed so that recommendations can be made and action plans drawn up, then implemented at the level of the various operational subsidiaries.

Respect for the environment

Europorte strengthens its initiatives every year to limit the impact of its activities on the environment and is committed on a daily basis to:

  • Transparent reporting of environmental samples and discharges
  • Optimising energy consumptions in order to reduce the impact on the environment
  • Implementing waste sorting/collection schemes and recycling according to the various activities
  • Raising awareness of employees on eco-friendly behaviour
  • Establishing an environmental assessment for customers in order to compare various logistics solutions.

Advantages of rail compared to road

Circulation of goods by rail is a transport mode particularly suited to long distances, for large loads and consistent with predominantly night time traffic. Compared to the road alternative, rail freight benefits from clear environmental advantages that contribute to limiting pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, to improving road traffic flow and to reducing the risk of road accidents.

Quality of service

Europorte makes customer satisfaction a major concern. Offering a high level of service by responding to each of their specific requests and so building a special long-term relationship with each customer is a permanent commitment for each of Europorte’s subsidiaries.

Europorte has put mitigation measures in place which aim to reduce or prevent the potential impacts of the risk of incident in the customer relationship, including:

  • Simplification and standardisation of the locomotive fleet with a full service contract, to offer greater performance and optimise maintenance costs
  • Monitoring of contracts as part of the weekly review
  • Service quality performance indicators included in each contract
  • A customer satisfaction survey conducted and presented each year to Europorte Management Committee.
Training

Europorte allocates a significant budget for the training of its employees, particularly for train drivers (mainly Europorte France) and for operational safety-related functions: shunters, checkers and foreman shunter.

Europorte Services is referenced as training centre for ground operations, shunters or train drivers and can rely on the CIFFCO, Getlink’s railway training Centre.

A questionnaire will be sent directly to suppliers by Getlink and its subsidiaries. Suppliers must complete the questionnaire fully, provide the information requested and keep the relevant subsidiary informed of any changes to their circumstances which may affect the responses given.
