Railway infrastructure management

The activity of contracted railway infrastructure management continues to expand considerably. These activities being as an extension of its traditional business, Europorte Services (Socorail) is in charge of the whole railway infrastructure management activity, in particular on major ports in France but not only, and develops a service offering which includes:

  • Operations and railway traffic management
  • Maintenance of railway networks
  • Railway engineering: audit, consulting, expertise.

In 2018, Europorte Services is present on 6 major sea and river ports in France: Dunkirk, Nantes-Saint-Nazaire, Le Havre, La Rochelle, Strasbourg and Bordeaux (Verdon terminal).

The rail infrastructure management contracts for these ports continue to produce excellent results, especially since Europorte Services was able to make up for the maintenance shortcomings of previous managements since the contracts were awarded. This performance reflects the expertise of its teams, its acknowledged quality of service and the competitiveness of Europorte's proposition.

Thanks to its expertise, experience and productivity, Europorte Services operates, maintains and manages the railway infrastructure of 6 major ports in France.

Europorte Services also handles railway movement management and/or the maintenance of some railway networks on sites such as on the 13.6km line on sand between Laluque and Tartas in the Landes region, on a number of feeder networks in the Alsace, hauts-de-France and Champagne-Ardennes regions and on the Bec d'Ambès line near Bordeaux.

The know-how and experience of Europorte Services are also recognised on these networks for:

  • Rail safety
  • Optimising railway network commercial capacit
  • Rationalising of maintenance
  • Technical and organisational innovation
  • Valorisation of the rail heritage.

In 2018, Europorte, via its subsidiary Europorte Services, maintains in total on the railway networks the following infrastructure and equipment:

  • 758 km of track of which 86 km are electrified (catenary)
  • 529 level crossings
  • 1,482 track equipment, mainly points and crossings
  • 16 signal boxes.
