Europorte is the rail freight business of the Eurotunnel group.

Europorte is composed of the French branch of Veolia Cargo acquired by Eurotunnel at the end of November 2009, Europorte 2 and GB Railfreight, acquired from FirstGroup at the beginning of June 2010.

Europorte is Groupe Eurotunnel subsidiary specialising in rail freight; it is the first private operator in France to be granted a licence authorising it to develop rail services throughout the European Union.

Europorte comprises 6 subsidiaries: Europorte France, Europorte Channel (Europorte 2), Europorte Link, Europorte Proximité, SOCORAIL and GB Railfreight. Their activities, goals and resources are detailed on this website.

Europorte offers a broad and coherent range of services:

  • Rail freight transport on a national and international scale (freight train traction)
  • Operation of local freight services on secondary lines (traction, ground services, wagon movements..) around hubs and port terminals
  • Industrial services: handling rail freight on industrial sites (oil, chemical, steel, automotive) with additional services to customers such as loading, unloading and infrastructure management
  • Rail services: testing locomotives and delivering rolling stock for manufacturers
  • Infrastructure services: ballast, sleeper and rail delivery for Network rail, de-icing, leaf clearance, etc.

In 2009, the activities of Europorte subsidiaries have generated a turnover of more than 110 million Euros for a workforce of around 900 people.
